Abstract

This work proposes to introduce a study of the phenomenon of compressor stall in aeronautical turbofan engines of commercial aircraft. Through this study is shown the operation of a turbofan engine as well as the description of its sub parts and components. The phenomenon of compressor stall has been observed since beginning of the operation of this type of motor, even today. The motivation of this study was due to accidents and incidents motivated by this phenomenon, causing damage to people and equipment, as well as the high costs that this phenomenon generates to the air operators. Another point is the description of the devices used in the engines to try to prevent the compressor stall in turbofan engines.
